Judy's Reborn Nursery

Hello, my name's Judy Dickinson, I am the artist behind Judy's Nursery. I live in Bridlington with my husband and 2 children. I became a full time housewife 3 years ago when we moved to Bridlington.

Since then I have persued my passion for creating art, either through painting, sculpting or reborns.

Most of my time at the moment is taken up sculpting. I sculpt monkey's and mini babies using polymer clay. I start my monkeys from a tinfoil and wire skeleton then gradually add clay until the finished piece resembles a monkey. I use glass eyes and different types of hair, but mainly mohair, which is rooted directly into the wet clay before baking. The clay is wonderfull to work with I study many photographs of my chosen subject to get as realistic a resemblance as possible. The clay is heated in the oven to set it, then the finished peice is painted with Genesis heat set paints and finally assembled. I have created many different monkeys and apes from Orangutans to chimpanzee and also the smaller macaque monkeys. I first became interested in reborns after seeing them on Ebay, I was amazed at the detail and how much they resembled real babies. I scoured the internet looking for information on how they were created and eventually stumbled across ERA Forum and registered with them. The ladies of ERA are very helpfull. I bought a peterkin playdoll and my first set of Genesis heat set paints and started the fascinating art of reborning. I love the variety of painting and trying to acheive realistic skin tones to rooting hair and finally assembling and taking photographs for listing on Ebay - I have included some examples of reborns sold on Ebay.
